*It could be when I climbed up on a chair to get something from the top shelf in the library.  First I tried the seat, then moved on to the arms, and finally the back of the chair.  But, I got it down.  Repeat for the other side of the library.  Could be that…

*Or it could be when I put those 2 boxes on top of each other, and proceeded to take them to the garage.  When I got there, I found another box that I could consolidate into the 2 I already had, and so I bent over to move the contents of box 3 into boxes 1 and 2.  When I couldn’t bend over any longer…I squatted down.  From this position, I finished the transfer and proceeded to TRY to stand up.  Instead, I fell backwards landing hard on my back and hip.  Could be that…

*Or it could be when I took Finn outside to take care of whatever he needs to take care off in the yard.  As he was busy looking for a tree to gnaw on, I decided I would walk over and and check the pots by the pool fountain.  Well!  He became so distressed when he realized that I was not beside him, he comes bounding over to where I was.  I saw him coming and knew he was going to be jumping on me, so I started moving on out of the way.  But, I did not move fast enough.  He ran right between my legs and then turned around on a dime and got me from behind.  I had visions of myself falling into the pool while our temperature was 27 degrees.   As my balance deserted me, I managed to catch myself on the rocks of the fountain.  I did not fall into the water.  However, the position I ended up in is not one the Good Lord intended for the human body to be twisted into.  Could  be that…

Or maybe it was the climbing and the fall and the twist combined.  No matter.  I am in painMajor pain!!!

This is the third day and it is slowly getting better.  However, I can get into a standing position now, and  I can very slowly turn over.  So, it is healing.  I’m taking muscle relaxers, and pain meds and using pain patches on my back.

So, I may be absent  from the blogisphere for a few days.  It’s kind of hard to hold my laptop on my lap.  But, I’ll be back with you next week… Lord willing.  And, friends, you may want to think twice before you climb up onto the back of a chair….just saying…

  1. Oh, Sweetpea!!! You made more dangerous moves than when we're ALL in the kitchen, dancin' to Joe Cocker!!

I hope all is well soon. Do make use of all those remedies, stay warm, and get a lot of rest for those sore muscles and all those places you didn't know you had places.

    DO feel better!

  2. Why are we so dagum stubborn??? I am the same way. I don't want to wait for help or ask for help. I want it done *now*….oops! Take care. feel better. Just prayed for you.

  3. Tonja, Tonja, Tonja!!!! You need to listen to the advice Alex was trying to give you when you were climbing that high ladder. Just kidding. I’m so sorry you’re in so much pain. I pray that everything you’re doing, plus the healing hand of God, will soon have you feeling much better – at least well enough to hold your laptop! Priorities, you know.

  4. So sorry to hear this. None of those things sound like safe things to do. Of course what happened with Finn was something you couldn't have know ahead of time. Hope you up and about soon. I know you have to take care of Alex so I know this has been hard on you.
Take Care & God Bless. ((HUGS))

  5. Or it MAY be related to our age (I can say that since we are of the same vintage)

I live with low back/sciatica pain. Basic fact of life around here.

  6. Tonja, I'm so sorry to hear you're hurting, and hope each day your pain will be less. Take care of yourself, and try not to overdo when you DO feel better. I'll be thinking about you and will remember you in my prayers.

  7. So sorry! Back pain rates high like a bad tooth ache. Take care and don't worry about us. We'll be waiting.

  8. I'm guilty of doing crazy things too. And sometimes I stop and realize what I just did wasn't too smart and then I thank the good Lord for keeping me from hurting myself. And sometimes I DO hurt myself. It's human nature, I guess, to think we can do it all…all the time. Take care of yourself. Hope you're feeling better already.

  9. Tonja, try to be more careful……if you keep hurting yourself, you won't be able to shop!
