I love music. I love all kinds of music…except heavy metal…and some rap. And, one of my favorite genres is Christmas Music. However, let me issue a qualification.

There is nothing as beautiful as the old familiar Christmas carols. Those dear songs that can immediately transfer you back to the Christmas of your childhood. Memories of those sweet songs learned early in life, and sung year after year, are indeed precious. Nothing can ever take their place.

However, there are new and equally as worshipful songs being written today. I so enjoy new Christmas music. I get excited every year when I see favorite groups have come out with a Christmas album. But, I admit that usually I am disappointed when I find that all the songs are the same ones that we have heard for years. Don’t hate me! I adore those songs, but, just how many recordings do you need of the old, sweet carols? You probably have recordings of these by your own favorite artists, as do I. So, I never bother buying new renditions of these. But, when I find a recording of new seasonal music…I am anxious to give it a try.

I have just returned from my local K-Mart, where I went to fill my boxes for Operation Shoebox. As I passed by the music aisle, I saw the display of Christmas CDs and had to check them out. I have always found the music from Enya to be very hauntingly beautiful and quite soothing. So, I was anxious to give this a listen. It even has 2 of those ‘old, familiar carols’ done in her particular style. I am very pleased with this purchase, and am happy to recommend it to you. Her version of Silent Night is especially beautiful. And there is new music that is equally as nice.
I purchased this one for $15.99, but I notice that Amazon has it for $9.99.

I can also highly recommend: Holiday Songs and Lullabies by Shawn Colvin…It’s A Wonderful Christmas by Michael W. SmithWintersong by Sarah McLaclan…A Christmas Reunion by Various ArtistsA Christmas To Remember by Amy GrantChristmas Songs by Jars of Clay. I’d love to hear what your favorites are.
